The challengesThey do not care about you. Money is all that matters.

    First Job Vantage Point
The good thingsAs the first job I had straight from college, LPPA provided a motley of project types to gain an experience from. You get to have a solid grasp on the different phases a project has to go through which goes hand in hand with a particular skill you can develop. During my stay, I was able to see how the office nurtures a culture of learning from conducting lecture series and was overall grateful for the senior architects who were keen on teaching you and your competitive associates that inspires you to do your best as well.
The challengesThe challenge of pre-pandemic workhours may not be as applicable now but to still have a certain volume of work deadlines during these uncertain times could as well say something about the office's demand from its clients.

Good working environment that can teach you how become more experience professional.
The good thingsIt's my first time working in architectural firm and I may say that there's a lot of things that I learned for being part of this company even my employemnt takes a short period of time. I learned more about how an architectural firm maintain and operates its business in our industry, it's different from those manufacturing business type of company where I am mostly came from. It's a good experience working in this kind of firm. Most of it's staffs are also kind, approachable, have a respect, have a cooperation, have a proper discipline, and having a team spirit. Even the licensed Architects and Engineer's are having this kind of good attitudes and manners.
The challengesThe boss/CEO is so strict when it comes to how you manage to accomplished your work task presentably and correctly. For me it's a good thing because he will teach you how to be responsible, punctual, proactive, how to take initiative and how you communicate effectively in every working task he may assigned to you. Those are good working habbits that the boss/CEO may teach you. He is so professional with no hesitation I may say.

The good thingsOffice location is really accessible by public transport (along EDSA)
The challengesNo Covid-19 relief during lockdown. Management's poor behavior and delayed decision caused a problem during lockdown. Higher management takes credit of work from employees.

The good thingsThis company gave me a chance to experience the designing and the production phase, from the sketches to the coordination with other trades and even with clients. This helped me broaden my knowledge in architecture and see it in another perspective. I also learned a lot from the mentoring of my seniors and the principal architect which helped me in my professional growth. You'll also build great relationship with your colleagues as they are helpful and supportive which also creates a good working environment.
The challengesThe challenge would be meeting the deadline but once it is finish there is a satisfying feeling despite the long tiring hours of work. Though, I think this is the reality of our field.

STEPPING STONE: My First Job Experience
The good thingsWorking in LPPA, a multi-awarded architectural firm, as a fresh graduate aided my growth professionally with diverse learning experiences. My starting role as an Architectural Designer and Project Coordinator trained me into proficiently multi-tasking between the production of working drawings as well as coordination among the design team, consultants, and clients. More so, the employees get to directly report to the principal architect which I find very helpful in building-up my confidence and communication skills. On top of these learning experiences, I greatly appreciate the warm working environment I had during my employment. LPPA's team of experienced professionals and fellow apprentice architects have been nothing but accommodating, supportive, and helpful. A number of events like bowling tournament, K-BBQ dinner, etc. happen from time to time allowing the employees to bond outside work. Other than the welcoming reception area, LPPA office also has a common space for lounging as well as a pantry for heating up food and eating during breaks on the 5th floor.
The challengesWith LPPA's good reputation, a stream of projects continue to open doors. This entails simultaneous deadlines which requires the employees to work under pressure and in longer hours. Nevertheless, this offers an opportunity for the employees, especially fresh grads, to gain more hours of experience and be trained into proficiently working under pressure. For compensation, the starting salary is average which can be raised based on performance. As a fresh grad with not much of financial responsibilities yet, I prioritize the quality of experience over salary. Thus, I learn as much as I can and find the salary raise as an inspiration to do better at work.

I've been working for the firm for almost a year now and saw the changes and improvements that the management has implemented thru the months.
The good thingsFrom office expansions, internal events and materials that aid to employee welfare and production. The best part is the new pantry and common space at the 5th floor provided for the employees, where you can lounge during breaks. More so, LPPA is a good firm for fresh grads who wish to learn a lot in the practice. You will be immersed in a variety of midrise to highrise projects in and out of the Metro. Colleagues are very accommodating and supportive. Location is not only good for Quezon City aspirants but also those from surrounding cities. It's near MRT Q ave and its found along EDSA. Public transpo is very accessible. You wouldnt be arriving to work with sweat dripping on your forehead.
The challengesWith the number of projects we are handling and a fast turnover rate, there's bound to be OT days specially during project deadlines that can lead to overnight stays. Salary and compensation is also another matter They do offer an average starting salary than some design focused firms I've applied to but they still need to recheck guidelines for salary deductions and rates.

    Hardwork = Greatness
The good thingsWorking in LPPA allowed me to experience the other aspects of our field. Apart from designing, it has given me the opportunity to build relationships, not just within our office, but with our colleagues from related fields as well. This has given me a better understanding on what happens beyond what we see on our drawings. I must say, having this as my first job after graduation has given me a holistic experience and additional knowledge that college has not prepared me for.
The challengesIt is through this experience that I have learned to really appreciate the hard work that we, designers, put on what we do- to mention long working hours just to beat the deadlines. And when I say long working hours, I mean overtime almost daily. It may be tiring, but with the working environment that I am in, everything is easier, and quite fun.

The good thingsThe office offered the best experience and exposure for a fresh graduate like me. I got the chance to learn a lot from my boss and seniors through their mentoring and consultations. As an established design firm, they have the best design practices and construction standards. It also offers personal growth as we invite different professionals and consultants through arranged talks. During my stay, I was lucky to have handled different type of projects. Depending on the project, one may be able to participate during the conceptualization up to the construction phase.
The challengesDuring the process, we usually had to render OT hours to meet the deadlines.

The good thingsThis company helped me a lot to broaden my knowledge in architectural detailing and the importance of production drawings during construction period. The company also helped me in my early years as a newby in the Architecture profession. They also helped me to enhance my knowledge on particular softwares needed in our profession. I was also given a chance to handle a project on my own.
The challengesI have enjoyed working here to the extent that i do not take in to consideration the low salary that they gave me during my stay. During my time, we do not have any SSS or PAG-IBIG. The company is also exercising a no work no pay policy. But despite of all this, I have managed to work because of my work mates which was very friendly and down to earth. We work as a team. and that is great.
