Domingo St. Quezon City, baking pandesal,”tasty”, soft bread and other bakery products and employing three bakers, 3 sales ladies and one cashier. Seeing the growth of its clientele ,”Laura’s” introduced biscuits products like Pasencia, Egg Cracklet, Buttered Toast, Ogoy-Ogoy, and Luisita. Slowly, its customers expanded. Grocery owners and retailers would order from “Laura’s” biscuit products and sell them in their own stores. The growing market prompted the spouses Luis and Laura Martinez to seek opportunities to distribute its products in a wider market.In 1993, "Laura’s” biscuits and cookies were introduced in supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores and warehouse clubs. It was indeed a struggle considering the competitors in the market. There were times when the spouses almost gave up on this venture and thought of simply going back to their neighborhood bakery but they held on and clung to their unseen business partner, the Lord Jesus.Luis F. Martinez, the spouse of Laura R Martinez belongs to a family with a tradition in biscuit and cookies manufacturing. He is the youngest son of Felicisimo Martinez, the baker-founder of the biscuit brand “La Pacita”. Luis learned the rudiments of biscuit and cookies manufacturing at a tender age of fourteen. Laura who is a registered nurse by profession is fond of cooking and baking. Their complete trust and faith in God strengthened them throughout these very difficult times.Today, ”Laura’s” biscuits are present in SM Supermarkets, Landmark, Robinson’s, South Supermarkets, Rustans, Uniwide, Waltermart, Ever and many others; in convenience stores like I-Mart and Easy Mart Chains. In addition, Laura's Food Products Corporation is also the exclusive Distributors of Local and International Products in the Philippine Market.Moreover, the company is negotiating in acquiring a plant twice its current size, also in Angono, Rizal to support the growing demand for Laura's products as it was already being distributed in the Philippines and being exported to USA, Canada and Middle East due to numerous inquiries from overseas Filipinos.The spouses, Luis and Laura, will continue to pursue their dream of providing a better life for their workers-partners and their families through employment and enhanced benefits. and they know that they are not alone in this dream.
