HistoryThe history of ITOCHU Corporation dates back to 1858 when the Company's founder Chubei Itoh commenced linen trading operations. Since then, ITOCHU has evolved and grown over 160 years. With approximately 100 bases in 62 countries, ITOCHU, one of the leading sogo shosha, is engaging in domestic trading, import/export, and overseas trading of various products such as textile, machinery, metals, minerals, energy, chemicals, food, general products, realty, information and communications technology, and finance, as well as business investment in Japan and overseas.Obtaining a business license in the Philippines on May 19, 1967, ITOCHU Corporation - Manila Branch has since then developed and sustained its stakes in the country. Long time employees fondly recall their experiences as they went on moving from the many locations of its offices. As its' business grew, the Branch was transformed from being a Liaison Office into a fully owned Branch Office by 1969. Along these periods, the company made business on many sites including those in Escolta (Samanillo Building), in Roxas Boulevard (L & S Building, Almeda Building), in Makati (Manila Bank Building, RCA Communications Building, BA-Lepanto Building), where it has since transferred to its own building in July 1999. Records show, however, that Itochu's presence in the Philippines goes back to 1910, being among the first branches established outside of Japan. Its being located in Manila's Chinatown, in Binondo, with the employees shown handling hemp products. The Manila Branch is among the units of the South East Asia and ASEAN Block. Its' office, at the address: 16F 6788 Ayala Avenue Oledan Square 1226 Makati City, Philippines is strategically located in the center of Philippine business.

The good thingsThey are one of the TOP3 general trading company in Japan. There is a clear system in the company to lead you to get familiar with your position and work. The most important is there are a lot of chances allow you to practice your Japanese language skill with your colleagues and clients.
The challengesSince ITOCHU is one of the TOPs huge corporations in Japan, the salary you get doesn't mainly depend on your performance instead of how long time you spent in there. Don't dream to transfer overseas branch or joining the group management if you do not belong to their Japan headquarter. ITOCHU is typically the kind of company which more like a school, enable you to earn a lot intelligently but not financially.
