The Hospital of the Infant Jesus began as the Clinic of the Infant Jesus on Dimasalang Street, Manila, established September 20, 1961, initially for pediatric patients with 16 beds. By 1965, capacity increased to 50 beds. In 1968, a new four-story building opened at 1556 Laong Laan St., Sampaloc, Manila, becoming a Special Tertiary Care Hospital.Dr. Rolando S. Songco managed operations until Child Care Inc., a family corporation, was formed in 1984. The hospital expanded services and was upgraded to a general tertiary hospital in 1987. A six-story building on AH Lacson St. was added in 1994, introducing CT Scan, Eye Center, and other services.
