Working in GMA has trained me to become a great working professional. But given the circumstances of my employment, (contractual and slow career progression) I have decided to look elsewhere for greener pastures.
The good thingsThe working environment is nice, especially during the height of the pandemic. Our office/working area was always disinfected and cleaned for our safety.
The challengesWork-life balance is non-existent (depending on your employment type.) During my time, I had no sick and vacation leave for the entire year because I had no reliever.

Good career launch pad but traumatic working experience. Never commit mistake or heads will roll. The honchos prioritize promotion of VP levels, which is contrary to one of their corporate values: We value our People as our best assets. Clearly, that's not how you treat hardworking and dedicated non-VP people.
The good thingsA good jump start for any aspiring communications practitioner. The experience will hone your skills and abilities. The company provided tools to equip
The challengesTop 1: Management. Make no mistake and you're sure as hell you'll get the unreasonable ire of the one above. Top 2: Takes years to build a career but slow to minimal progression. Only VP levels get the quickest promotion.

Good place to be trained but not for growth.
The good thingsLeave credits, bonuses, CBA.
The challengesNo career growth. Management is jurassic holding on to their position and threatened by young employees with fresh ideas. Slowly evolving with the times. Mediocrity culture.

Career Growth is futile, depending on which team you belong to.
The good thingsThe bonuses when they come are generous. But compared to the humiliation and overwork you will experience, the price is not fair.
The challengesThe people you work with and the time constraints make for an uncomfortable working experience. Television people are rude and inconsiderate, they say it comes with the job but I would beg to differ.

low starting rate, but with Great benefits (also annual increase on salary)!
The good thingsGMA offers a lot of great benefits that surely makes up for the average or almost "low" starting salary rate. Increase were given yearly, so it only takes awhile for the salary to also increase in a reasonable amount. The company truly cares for its employee.
The challengesPressure filled workloads. although this is very much expected from a production field. You just have to learn the basics and stick with it. Also it is A MUST to be keen on details, since whatever you're working on will affect the airing.

Good training ground but not for long-term job
The good thingsThe news and Public Affairs Department is the best training ground for newbies. If you want to master working under pressure, this is the best option. You will learn a lot, especially in research, editing and producing. Your creative skills will be honed. You will meet people that you can be friends with.
The challengesHeavy workload is not compensated with the right salary. Yes, you will have good training, but you will experience more financial stress. There's a huge gap between the regular employees and the talents or project-based employees in terms of benefits, access, and treatment of the management.

    Simplicity
The good thingsThe company is located is so near to my home. Just that alone is the advantage. Due to its established and well-respected union organizations, somehow the low basic salary is overlooked. You can enjoy lots of benefits but mostly non-monetary. If you are married and hoping to start a career here, a managerial position is the only position that could satisfy your needs without exhausting your income
The challengesIf only this company can offer its employees higher salary, working in this industry is quite interesting since the transactions are somehow unique. The career progress is also very slow. Even if you can perform very well, you cannot expect promotion within two years. They don't even offer trainings applicable to your profession given that they usually require licensed professionals.

    Okay for stability
The good thingsThe benefits are good, especially because my HMO coverage extends to my parents. The people are polite and friendly. It's a fun environment to work in because the culture that has been established over the years feels a lot like home. People here value relationships and it feels nice going to work with people who treat you like family.
The challengesIt isn't that very challenging, especially for young people. The environment is a bit too relaxed sometimes that it's possible to feel that you're at a standstill. Promotions are mostly because of tenure.
