What’s it like working at Exist Software Labs, Inc.?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Exist Software Labs appreciate the modern and casual work environment, as well as the flexible work arrangements offered by the company. The compensation is generally considered above market rates, and the benefits are seen as acceptable or good. Reviewers highlight the collaborative nature of the workplace, with employees being good team players and easy to work with. Additionally, employees value the opportunities to learn new technologies and gain valuable technical experience.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as inconsistencies in management's vision and the potential for micromanagement in certain cases. There are also indications that the company may sometimes lack standard processes, leading to challenges with product quality, and employees may face heavy workloads with expectations of unpaid overtime and weekend work. Employees have expressed concerns about limited opportunities for career growth and the need for improvement in this area. While compensation is generally seen as above market rates, some reviewers have noted that salary increases can be difficult to negotiate, and there is room for improvement in benefits.

A modern mid-sized tech company that compensates above-average rates and a Russian-Roullette effect on your career based on which top level executive you will be reporting to. Good to start and maintain your career in IT department, but highly volatile for the others (eg. HR, Sales, Marketing, Admin)
The good thingsModern style workspace, relatively okay colleagues, hybrid set-up that respects your days off, and above market compensation.
The challengesManagement is erratic and does not have a consistent vision for the business. A few top level executives are taskmasters will micromanage you for every tiny detail, much more so when your vision and output does not align with theirs. Also, be wary of sudden "P.I.P." provisions, and there's no bonus.

Good company to hone your technical abilities
The good thingsResults-based. Software development team is independent and can work at their own pace. Management tries their best to align personal interest with the assignment of projects. There are some benefits that are not available in other companies. People are approachable and easy to collaborate with.
The challengesSalary increase is really hard to negotiate, but if you resign, they would give you a counteroffer. There can be multiple project assignments and it would not mean you will get salary increase or overtime pay e.g. 25% capacity for Project A, 75% capacity for Project B. This might not be good for some.

The good thingsI always tell myself that I am in good hands with Exist. I love what I do. Work means effort and it is all good when you are properly compensated. Benefits are acceptable compared to having no benefits at all but yes, can still be improved.
The challengesHaving new projects that are very new to you needs R&D but this is good challenge because it will mean additional knowledge/expertise in the long run. Benefits can still be improved.
