    An experience like never before.
The good thingsGoing in a public hospital from a classroom setup really put my life in perspective of how the healthcare system works in the Philippines. It was absolutely tiring yet equally rewarding as it was a jam-packed 6 months wherein I got to experience a lot of things I have never seen or did before.
The challengesThe lack of staff especially at grave hours which is totally understandable.

    Good learning experience
The good thingsHigh pay relative to other residency training programs. Immediate supervisor was generally fair. There are a lot of nice people working here.
The challengesManagement has low priority of laboratory medicine and diagnostics. The pathologist and medical technologists are taken for granted most of the time. PhilHeath 50-50 sharing policy sucks for the physicians.

    It's Our Role
The good thingsThe working environment is stimulating and I always had opportunity to enhance my skills and improve my decision-making skills. I am happy to be with professionals and felt fulfilling whenever there were new activities to try and new people to meet. Our programs were helpful and I realized that government really had its ways of providing the people its needs.
The challengesThe hospital could have done better in ensuring that not only the qualified individuals were hired but also motivated employees were retained. It is challenging to learn the duties and responsibilities on one's job description but it is much more challenging to do something beyond those. Work ethics of the Filipinos were positive and it is shown by the majority of workers at the hospital.

The amount of work doesn't really suffice the amount of salary given to you and there is no overtime pay or night differential. It also doesn't give clear tax deductions and tax returns and most of the benfits here are either gone or diminished.
The good thingsthe administrative section of this institution is quite workable and the job can be sometimes easy.
The challengesthe compensation versus the amount of work they assign you to do is quite unmatched. i can say that the higher your position or your pay, the less productive or work you have to do. so it means when your salary is low, the amount of job or task assigned to you is plenty.
