A good stepping stone in becoming an skilled chemist
The good thingsClient interaction from various walks of life will improve your customer and public service. It also helped me to become familiar with various analytical and non-analytical equipment in the laboratory. Lastly, it also helped me to learn other skills on Intellectual Property and ISO Audits.
The challengesOur government does not support science and technology hence some laboratories have old laboratory equipment that needs to be upgraded. In addition, depending on the attitude of current personnel, office politics becomes a norm which prevents progress and harmony in the office.

The good thingsFlexibility, Resiliency, time management and building up confidence.
The challengesThe attitude of your boss towards you and he didn’t give importance how you work hard for that.

Nature-friendly working environment with awesome colleagues and unforgettable experiences
The good thingsDepartment of Science and Technology is my second home since 2016 since I've done my internship at DOST - Internal Audit Service. Then I've graduated at 2017, I was able to apply and work at DOST - Science Education Institute. Working at DOST feels like you are so close to nature, since you've got to relax and breathe the fresh air coming from the trees and plants that are around the complex when you go outside of your office (My plantito self is shaking haha). Aside from that, DOST has provided me with enough resources such as Laptop, Camera, and Softwares that are needed for my job as a Multimedia Artist. I've also got the chance to travel at the different provinces in our country to disseminate information about S&T and to promote the DOST Scholarship. Overall, I'll definitely recommend working at the Department of Science and Technology. If you are a fresh grad or an experienced employee. I'm pretty sure you will love working at DOST. With them, I was able to hone my creative & decision-making skills and work with colleagues that support and treat you as a family.
The challengesThe only downside on working at a government agency is I didn't get a chance to be promoted as a regular employee and there are no benefits, perks and trainings for contractuals.

    Adequately Challenging
The good thingsOur employer was very warm and accommodating. The company opened my eyes to different work situations, and taught me how to balance the things I should do in my life.
The challengesMaybe an allowance for at least transportation fare would be nice.

Good working experience, though not perfect
The good thingsMany learning experiences and skill trainings are provided, but government budget limits career growth.
The challengesContrary to popular opinion, this government office works very hard to deliver their services to the people, albeit stretched resources.

Work in DOST is not worth it when you are a job order
The good thingsYou get a lot of exposure for your field
The challengesThe management has to improve the way they treat job orders and if they require JOs to do regular programs of DOST then the JOs also deserve to receive Christmas bonuses

ASTI as a Great Training Ground
The good thingsASTI has been a good training ground for me. I worked in ASTI for almost 3 years and I can say that I learned a lot which I think made me more competitive on my field.
The challengesI think the biggest challenge that I consider while working at ASTI was being the only tester in the team. Due to lack of testers, I used to test alone for a couple of months I guess. But then, due to this, I learned a lot especially on how to manage my time. I also got to test lots of modules and I discovered lots of scenarios which I can use in the future.
