What’s it like working at Deloitte?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Deloitte offers significant advantages including continuous learning opportunities, exposure to prestigious multinational clients, and competitive compensation packages. The company culture is enhanced by supportive colleagues and a welcoming environment, particularly for young professionals seeking career growth.

However, employees should be prepared for the demanding nature of consulting work, which often requires extended hours and adaptation to a project-based structure. The substantial workload and varying levels of structured training implementation can present challenges, particularly for new hires adjusting to the professional services environment.

I have a love-hate relationship with my employment in this firm. Unfortunately the things I hate about it are natural to a consulting firm due to nature of business. 😃
The good thingsThe HMO has good coverage. Work from home (unless client requires you to be onsite). Very good brand - will really UP your CV. Work hard party harder culture (also a con at some point). Compensation offer can really be good provided you are able to pass the very difficult interview process & are able to negotiate. Training & continuous learning are expected from you and resources are available. The Performance Mgt ecosystem is mature. KPIs are standard and are well communicated to everyone. There is a coaching culture that does not mean youre in trouble - just mean that your coach is coaching you. Evaluations are not done once a year (quarterly) and multiple people can provide feedback about you - makes it very objective and not dependent on one persons’ (a boss) perspective about you.
The challengesNo work life balance - in reality clients will not hire deloitte if they can do thibgs on their own. Hence all projects are (very) challenging and require both creativity & analytical skills. Sometimes you will end up working more than 8 hours (some even 15 hrs) a day and it may burn you out. There is no wfh provision for ergonomic table and chair so youre gon need to buy them on your own. Typical consulting environment: Your employment is based on projects - it is like an employment within an employment. Without a project, your kpi will automatically decline and at a certain threshold may put you in PIP. Because projects are short term, this puts so much pressure esp if there’s no project coming, requiring you to network to join projects with peers or generate your own. It’s either you love it or hate it. Either you go up or out. There is no in between. For single people they dont have free HMO coverage for dependents (parents). This is the biggest con.

The company is open for fresh graduates that are willing to learn and grow.
The good thingsI really had a great time working in Deloitte especially that I met a lot of good friends in there. They are very welcoming and they are supportive to your plans and goals in life.
The challengesAll I can say is that, we are different individuals that has different ways of learning. So I suggest that you tell your superior your suggested way of learning.
