What’s it like working at Ascendion?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the competitive starting salary at Ascendion, with the company willing to match justified salary requests. The hybrid work setup offers valued flexibility, and client projects provide meaningful learning opportunities and diverse experience. Employees also note the provision of government-mandated benefits including HMO and allowances, and many report having supportive teammates and managers who contribute to a positive working environment.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Job security is closely tied to client projects, with 30-day notices often issued upon project completion rather than redeployment. Salary increases tend to be minimal, with limited annual adjustments and few bonuses beyond mandated benefits. Some employees have experienced slower HR communication, particularly regarding benefits and project transitions. Training and career development opportunities are limited, with growth heavily dependent on client assignments. Additionally, when placed on the bench, employees may receive limited proactive support in securing new projects, and the company primarily offers contract positions with extended contracts rather than regularisation.

Fair enough, and it was a fair experience.
    The good thingsTownhall, some recognition
The challengesYou will be hired as a regular employee, but if the client’s contract ends, you will only be benched for one month. They will also assure you that they will find or assign you to another client since they have many clients available. However, there was no salary increase after my first year of tenure.

Unclear Project Transitions, Limited Employee Support. Good Client Work, Poor Internal Management
The good thingsI genuinely enjoyed working on client projects, as they provided valuable learning opportunities and meaningful collaboration. Through these projects, I was able to grow my skills, gain diverse experience, and work with many talented and supportive individuals. However, my positive experience was largely driven by the client engagements rather than the overall support and environment provided by my employer.
The challengesDuring my time with the company, I observed significant gaps in how bench employees are managed. When placed on the bench, there is little to no proactive support in helping secure a new project. Employees are often left waiting without clear guidance, direction, or updates. There is also limited transparency regarding project contracts and timelines. In some cases, employees are unexpectedly informed via email that their project has ended and that they will be moved to the bench, with minimal prior notice or explanation. This lack of communication creates uncertainty and unnecessary stress. Client management practices also raise concerns. The company tends to push aggressively for payment even while clients are still finalizing internal budget discussions. Instead of allowing time for proper coordination, resources may be pulled out abruptly, which can strain client relationships. Overall, improvements in transparency, employee support, and client communication are strongly needed.

Benefits & training; access delay, manual time track, job security challenge, vendor-client conflict
The good thingsInitial salary and benefits; new job opportunities and work experiences; internal trainings (Learning Lab / Udemy); complimentary refreshments; and office setup.
The challengesAfter joining, necessary access — turnstile or office access — is often delayed. Timesheet entries and leave requests are handled manually, with no automated tools such as Clockify or Jibble. Post-promotion salary adjustments are not immediate. Management tends to prioritize client project delivery over employee well-being, despite promoting open communication. Job security largely depends on client projects and may end within 30 days of project completion. There are no internal initiatives such as classroom-based technical training, collaborative workshops, or hands-on labs to help extend employment while awaiting new assignments. Although Learning Lab and Udemy resources are available, the 30-day notice still applies after the last project ends. Conflicting decisions between client stakeholders and internal management—especially in communication-related roles—may create uncertainty and lead some employees to consider applying directly to the client to avoid vendor-client conflicts.
