A Valuable Learning Experience in Banking Operations and Accounting Compliance
The good thingsI enjoyed my experience at BDO Unibank as an Accounting Assistant because it allowed me to apply my accounting knowledge in a real banking environment. I gained valuable hands-on experience in audit compliance, account reconciliation, report preparation, and daily banking operations. I also appreciated working closely with Branch Officers and the Branch Accountant, which helped me understand the importance of accuracy, deadlines, and internal controls in the banking industry. The role improved my attention to detail, time management, and professionalism while contributing to smooth branch operations and customer service.
The challengesOne area that could be improved during my experience at BDO Unibank as an Accounting Assistant is workflow efficiency, particularly during peak periods such as month-end and audit deadlines. At times, workloads were heavy and tasks were highly manual, so additional staffing, clearer task delegation, or further system automation could help improve turnaround time and reduce pressure. Enhanced training sessions and clearer documentation of procedures would also be beneficial to help new staff adapt more quickly while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Pay is great. That's the only good thing I can say after more than 1 year.
The good thingsBase pay is good. 16 months is great. Retirement benefit is great to have as always.
The challengesNo process. No process documents. No proper transition. No prioritization of work. Everything is urgent. Every senior leader's wants gets factored in and addressed.

BDO taught me a lot of lessons on being in a workplace. The bank teach you how to find ways on a problem.
The good thingsThe good thing about this is that, BDO cares for its employees, their package benefits are a win, also a good workplace to grow and retire. The people are okay to work.
The challengesContinuous improvement on going digital. Though its a traditional bank, they still continue to find ways to be the best. Their on-site office setup is a little bit challenge but you will get used to it.
