Tasks and duties
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies to meet the company's objectives.
- Negotiating contracts, prices, timelines and supply agreements with suppliers.
- Managing relationships with vendors, ensuring goods arrive on time and meet quality requirements.
- Supervising purchasing agents and other staff, assigning them duties and tasks.
- Analyzing procurement needs, keeping track of inventory, and planning future orders.
- Evaluating overall performance of vendors, and resolving issues and discrepancies with orders.
How to become a Purchasing Supervisor
A bachelor degree is required as well as significant experience in the field.
- 1.Earn a bachelor degree in business administration, operations, engineering, economics or related field.
- 2.Gain experience through on-the-job training and entry-level jobs.
- 3.Consider getting certifications such as those offered by the Procurement and Supply Institute of Asia (PASIA) or the Philippine Institute for Supply Management (PISM).
- 4.With enough experience in a leadership role, you can move up to the role of Purchasing Supervisor.
