Marketing Assistants support and assist marketing managers and other senior leaders in developing sales strategies and marketing campaigns. They also provide support on projects that will help their company make sales and grow profits. They often perform administrative tasks for a marketing team such as answering and directing phone calls, sending emails to clients, performing data entry and scheduling appointments. Marketing Assistants can also monitor the results of marketing campaigns to gather data used to improve performance.Tasks and duties
- Completing daily administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and answering emails.
- Assisting marketing executives in organizing projects.
- Using marketing analytics techniques to gather important data, such as consumer trends and information.
- Preparing spreadsheets, databases and inventories with statistical, financial and non-financial information.
- Supporting the preparation of promotional events and digital campaigns.
- Organizing and delivering promotional presentations.
- Writing and publishing online content on the company’s website and social media accounts.
- Communicating directly with clients and building relationships.
How to become a Marketing Assistant
To become a Marketing Assistant, you usually need a bachelor degree.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in marketing, sales, business or a related field. This usually takes four years to finish.
- 2.In your senior year, you are required to attend On-the-Job Training (OJT) in various corporate, marketing and research companies. This allows you to apply your skills and knowledge in real work settings.
- 3.In the Philippines, Marketing Management does not have a board examination. However, you may choose to take the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC) to qualify for jobs in government offices.
- 4.After gaining experience, consider progressing your career with further study. You could study a masters degree in marketing to build advanced skills for senior roles such as Marketing Manager.
