How to become a Game Developer
To work as a Game Developer, you need strong technical skills.
- Finish a degree in information technology, computer programming or a related field. These courses will arm you with knowledge in programming, network basics, and calculus which are needed in game development.
- Build solid skills in software engineering. Learning programming languages such as C++, C, C#, Java, and Python are essential in game development. Constantly refresh your knowledge through online classes, forums and industry news.
- Gain professional experience through an internship and entry-level role. Before becoming a Game Developer, you can work as a Quality Assurance (QA) Tester to grow your knowledge in the gaming profession.
- Prepare a portfolio, which will give employers an idea of your capabilities and experience.
- Grow your career by progressing to Design Team Manager or Technical Director. You can also eventually own and operate a game development studio.
