How to become a Biomedical Engineer
To become a Biomedical Engineer you will need to complete a relevant degree. High grades and prior internships may give you an advantage when seeking employment.
- 1.Take the STEM strand in senior high school. Essential subjects include mathematics, biology, chemistry and life sciences.
- 2.Complete a bachelor degree in biomedical engineering.
- 3.Pass the PRC licensure exam in electronics engineering. Although there is no existing PRC licensure for biomedical engineering, many companies prefer licensed engineers for vacancies.
- 4.Complete an internship at a research facility to gain experience and networks.
- 5.Consider postgraduate education such as a masters degree in biomedical engineering, cell and tissue engineering, a PhD in biomedical engineering, or online seminar series at universities. Postgraduate degree holders may be preferred to keep up with the standards for development and innovation in healthcare.
