Microbiology Analyst

BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for microbiological testing of all products, starting materials, process water, tap water, and environmental monitoring samples in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures compliance with cGMP, GLP, GDocP, SOPs, and safety protocols in all microbiology laboratory activities.

2. Prepares, evaluates, and utilizes culture media for environmental monitoring, microbial limit testing, and media fill tests according to established procedures.

3. Performs environmental monitoring and microbial limit testing, including incubation, colony counting, and evaluation of samples from products, materials, and water systems.

4. Monitors laboratory conditions (e.g., temperature readings), maintains proper documentation, reports non-conformances, and assists in related investigations.

5. Supports laboratory operations through inventory management, waste disposal compliance, cross-training in specialized tests, interdepartmental collaboration, and other assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Graduate of BS Microbiology, BS Medical Technology,  BS Biology, BS Chemistry, BS Pharmacy, or any other allied profession

• Preferably with at least six (6) months of experience of microbiological work in Pharmaceutical or Food Laboratory

• Possesses good analytical ability

• Preferably with knowledge on microbiological testing procedures

• Possesses skill in identifying microbiological contaminants i.e. bacteria, molds, fungi

• In-depth knowledge of GLP

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Vision 20/20 or with corrected lenses.
