Job Duties and Responsibilities
A Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, equipment, and services required for construction, engineering, and operational projects while ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement Planning
Review project plans, specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ) to determine procurement requirements.
Develop procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and end-users regarding material and equipment requirements.
Supplier Sourcing and Accreditation
Identify, evaluate, and accredit suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
Request and analyze quotations from multiple vendors.
Maintain a database of qualified suppliers and vendors.
Purchasing and Negotiation
Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Purchase Requests (PR), and Purchase Orders (PO).
Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions.
Ensure procurement activities achieve the best value without compromising quality and project requirements.
Technical Evaluation
Review technical specifications and drawings to ensure purchased materials comply with project requirements.
Evaluate vendor proposals and technical submissions.
Coordinate with engineering and project teams for technical approvals.
Contract and Vendor Management
Assist in preparing procurement contracts and agreements.
Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and service.
Resolve supplier issues, delays, and discrepancies.
Cost Control and Budget Management
Monitor procurement expenditures against approved budgets.
Conduct cost comparisons and market analysis.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing options.
Logistics and Delivery Coordination
Track purchase orders and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and project teams to ensure timely receipt of materials.
Follow up on delayed deliveries and expedite urgent requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain complete procurement records and documentation.
Prepare procurement status reports and purchasing summaries.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure all purchased materials and services comply with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in supplier audits and quality inspections when necessary.
Ensure ethical procurement practices and transparency in all transactions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Preferably a Licensed Engineer.
Minimum of 3–5 years of procurement experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and procurement software.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
