We are seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to support tax compliance and financial reporting for Australian clients. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards and experience preparing financial statements and tax returns with some supervision.
In this role, you will:
Tax Compliance and Financial Reporting
Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts with guidance from senior team members.
Support end-to-end tax compliance tasks while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Data Analysis and Software Usage
Analyze and organize financial information provided by clients.
Enter and process data into accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or APS/HandiTax.
Ensure accurate data mapping and consistency across systems.
ATO Portal Support
Assist in accessing and retrieving client information from the ATO Portal.
Support reconciliation of ATO data including income tax accounts, lodgements, and notices of assessment.
Track lodgements and client compliance obligations.
Workpaper Preparation and Documentation
Prepare and maintain clear and organized workpapers and supporting schedules.
Ensure documentation meets internal standards and supports review processes.
Accounting Adjustments and Reconciliations
Assist in processing adjusting journal entries at year-end.
Perform basic reconciliations and support the finalization of financial records.
We’re Looking for Someone Who has:
2–4 years' experience in Australian accounting and/or taxation
Basic to intermediate knowledge of:
Australian tax (e.g., income tax, CGT basics, FBT overview)
Experience working with Australian SMEs (preferred but not required)
Exposure to preparation of financial statements and tax returns (with supervision)
Technical Skills:
Competent with computer operations as well as some specific applications, such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks
Non-Negotiables:

Good written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Willingness to learn and grow technical skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
