Expense Accountant 1 - Reliever

The Expense Accountant I helps drive critical business decisions by being responsible with the updating of monthly schedules and performing of analysis and reconciliation related to the insurance expenses (claims and acquisition costs) and retirement-related expense of the Company. They are tasked to align the reasonableness and completeness of the records and timeliness in recording of the transactions to help the Company in financial planning, budgeting process, and preparing projections/forecasts that will contribute to its overall growth. This role will also support information requests relating to management, audit and actuarial purposes.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Timely and Accurate recognition of Expenses 

• Reconcile account schedule balances versus trial balance of COS accounts.

• Reconcile account schedule balances versus trial balance of Commission Expense.

• Monitor expense/discount recognition in accordance to financial accounting standards and accounting policies 

• Coordinate with Treasury Department for set up of Discounts 

• Accrual of Other COS items to ensure completeness of balances per vendor monthly 

• Preparation of Other COS and Discount Report with commentaries/variance analysis 

Timely and Accurate reporting of Trade Payables 

• Updating and analysis of monthly schedules under Trade Payables to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted and reconcile schedule balances versus Trial Balance.

• Review of aging of accounts payable to ensure remaining balance reflected in the Trial Balance are those that are realizable only.

Ensure efficient audit of related accounts 

• Close coordination of requirements for audit with related responsibility centers 

• Maintain proper documentation on handled accounts 

• Resolve audit issues related to recording of transactions 

• Resolve audit issues related to accounting policies and workflows
