Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Junior Associate – Tax and Accounting to support our accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax compliance functions. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing accounting reports, reviewing payroll computations, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Bookkeeping

  • Record and maintain accounting transactions in both BIR Books of Accounts and QuickBooks Online.

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of entries in the following accounting books:

  • General Ledger

  • General Journal

  • Purchase Journal

  • Sales Journal

  • Cash Receipts Journal

  • Cash Disbursements Journal

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

  • Ensure accounting records comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Documentation and Records Management

  • Perform vouching procedures to verify the accuracy and completeness of source documents, including:

  • Sales invoices

  • Official receipts

  • Vendor bills

  • Purchase orders

  • Other supporting documents

  • Maintain organized filing systems for accounting, tax, and financial records.

  • Assist in the sorting, filing, and liquidation of supporting documents.

  • Ensure proper retention and safekeeping of accounting records and documentation.

Fixed Assets Management

  • Maintain and update fixed asset records and schedules.

  • Conduct inventory and monitoring of computers, IT equipment, and other company assets.

  • Assist in the monthly review and computation of depreciation expenses.

  • Support fixed asset verification and reconciliation activities.

Payroll Review and Compliance

  • Verify the accuracy of payroll computations, including gross pay calculations.

  • Recompute and validate taxes withheld from employee compensation.

  • Review the computation of statutory contributions, including:

  • Social Security System (SSS)

  • Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)

  • Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund)

  • Review employee payslips for accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist in maintaining payroll records and supporting schedules.

Tax Compliance Support

  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns, schedules, and supporting documents.

  • Monitor tax filing deadlines and compliance requirements.

  • Support tax audits, assessments, and inquiries from regulatory agencies.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.

  • Conduct basic tax research and analysis under the supervision of senior team members.

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Information System, Accounting Technology, Finance, Management Accounting, or a related field.

Experience

  • At least one (1) year of relevant work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation, payroll processing, audit, or related finance functions.

  • Experience in maintaining BIR Books of Accounts and using QuickBooks Online is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Philippine tax compliance, payroll processing, and statutory contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG) is an advantage.

  • Experience in handling accounting documentation, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of Philippine accounting and taxation principles.

  • Familiarity with BIR compliance requirements and Books of Accounts.

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good organizational and document management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
