WFH Senior Accountant (Professional Services / CPA Firm)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, Islandia, NY, USA, Eastern Time (with an hour unpaid break)
Responsibilities
Firm Accounting & Financial Management
Maintain the firm's general ledger and accounting records in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Reconcile firm bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
Monitor cash flow and prepare cash management reports.
Record and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare internal financial statements and management reports.
Revenue & Billing Management
Assist with client billing and collections processes.
Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and accounts receivable balances.
Coordinate with firm leadership regarding outstanding receivables and collection efforts.
Support implementation and monitoring of billing procedures.
Requirements
Technical Skills
Required: 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Required: Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
Required: Experience preparing financial statements and performing account reconciliations.
Required: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred: Experience working in a CPA, tax, bookkeeping, or professional services firm.
Preferred: Knowledge of CCH Axcess Practice Management.
Preferred: Experience with budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
Preferred: CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (or progress toward certification).
Preferred: Experience with payroll processing and multi-entity accounting.
