Senior Civil Engineer – Stormwater & Drainage | AU | WFH
A Senior civil engineering (Stormwater Design) position has opened with one of Australia's most established residential development consultancies. You will lead stormwater design across South Australia's fastest-growing residential corridors, delivering critical infrastructure that shapes how new communities manage water sustainably. This role combines technical precision with high-impact delivery in a fast-paced environment where your expertise directly influences project approvals and construction timelines.
THE ROLE
You will own the complete stormwater design process for residential developments ranging from single dwellings to small subdivisions across South Australia. Working within established company systems, you will deliver rapid-turnaround designs while maintaining the technical rigor required for council approval and long-term performance. Your work directly enables builders and developers to move projects from concept to construction.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Complete residential stormwater designs for single dwellings, townhouses, and small subdivisions using company job register system
• Deliver standard single dwelling projects within 1.5-hour timeframes, targeting 3 completed projects per day
• Coordinate with South Australian councils on stormwater requirements and submissions
• Review and markup designs from junior engineers when operating at senior level
• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, and reports for council submission
• Communicate with builders, architects, and certifiers on project requirements
• Conduct occasional site inspections for stormwater compliance verification
WHAT YOU BRING
• AutoCAD proficiency with 2-3 years hands-on experience in engineering drawings
• Minimum 3 years Australian residential stormwater design experience, preferably South Australia
• Understanding of Australian Standards for stormwater design and WSUD principles
• Experience with stormwater detention calculations and council coordination processes
• Microsoft Excel proficiency for engineering calculations and project tracking
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder coordination with councils and clients
