Technical Product Manager (Credit & Debit Cards)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and delivery-focused Technical Product Manager (TPM) to join our Card Services team. In this role, you will focus heavily on the origination and servicing cycles of credit and debit cards (with a specialized focus on card lifecycle, onboarding, and profile management rather than core merchant payment processing).

As a TPM, you will sit at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, bridging the gap between product vision and engineering delivery. You will lead technical initiatives covering crucial areas like fraud authentication, customer onboarding, digital provisioning, and real-time customer communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Product Delivery & Execution (Core TPM Role):

  • Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with Product Managers to align on product priorities, roadmap definition, and business success metrics.

  • Technical Drive: Take ownership of delivery from a technical execution perspective, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure system integrations.

  • Architecture & Design: Collaborate with Solution Architects and Lead Engineers on technical solution designs, ensuring API frameworks and system integrations meet requirements.

  • Backlog Management: Manage the technical backlog, drive user story refinement, maintain readiness, and proactively map and resolve cross-team dependencies.

  • Release & Readiness: Support end-to-end technical testing, operational readiness, and Go/No-Go release decisions.

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the primary technical liaison across multiple engineering, network, security, and operational teams.

Domain-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Authentication & Fraud Protection: Partner with major card network providers (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) to advance authentication capabilities, enhancing security for high-risk card transactions while maintaining a seamless user experience.

  • Card Origination & Customer Profile Protection: Drive enhancements for mobile card registration and validation experiences. Identify opportunities to strengthen validation controls, data integrity, and address management processes to eliminate onboarding friction.

  • Digital Provisioning: Lead discovery, planning, and rollout of modern digital provisioning enhancements (e.g., push-provisioning to Apple Wallet/Google Pay) aligned with network authentication standards.

  • Customer Communications & Alerts: Expand transactional email and SMS text alert capabilities for consumer and small business cardholders; establish reusable communication frameworks to accelerate real-time notification delivery.

Job Requirements & Skills:

Experience Required:

  • Fintech/Banking Domain: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Technical Product Management or Technical Business Analysis, specifically within Credit and/or Debit Card issuing, origination, and card servicing environments.

  • Core Card Lifecycles: Proven experience handling cardholder onboarding, identity validation, profile management, and fraud/authentication mechanisms.

Technical Competencies:

  • Card Networks & Compliance: Strong understanding of card network provider frameworks, network authentication protocols, and security compliance.

  • Systems Architecture: Experience working with APIs, microservices, data validation controls, and system integrations in an enterprise banking environment.

  • Agile Mechanics: Advanced proficiency in Scrum/Agile technical management, including technical storytelling, backlogs, and dependency mapping tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

  • Digital Wallets: Familiarity with digital provisioning and tokenization concepts for mobile wallets is a strong advantage.

Soft Skills & Execution:

  • Exceptional capability to translate complex business needs into clean, execution-ready technical requirements.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both software engineers and senior business leaders.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a structured approach to technical discovery and risk mitigation.
