Head of Supply Chain

The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of manufacturing plant. This includes the procurement of raw materials, production planning, inventory management (cold and dry storage), warehousing; logistics and distribution.  Ensures alignment between production output and distribution requirements. He is accountable for inventory accuracy; fill rate; transport cost control and cold chain integrity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Supply Chain Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with company goals

  • Lead procurement, planning, warehousing and logistics teams.

  • Establish KPIs for cost control, service level, inventory turns and waste reduction.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

2.     Procurement and Supplier Management

  • Source and negotiate with suppliers of raw materials.

  • Ensure reliable and cost-effective supply while maintaining quality standards.

  • Evaluate and accredit suppliers in compliance with food safety regulations.

  • Manage contracts and supplier performance reviews.

3. Production Planning and Inventory Control

  • Oversee demand forecasting and production scheduling

  • Ensure optimal inventory levels of perishable and frozen goods.

  • Implement FIFO/FEFO systems to minimize spoilage and waste.

  • Coordinate closely with Production, Quality Assurance and Sales Teams.

 4. Warehouse and Cold Chain Management

  • Oversee 3rd party cold storage; dry storage and finished goods warehouses.

  • Ensure accurate inventory records and conduct regular audits.

  • Enforce safety and sanitation standards in all warehouses.

5. Logistics and Distribution

  • Oversee outbound deliveries to distributors; supermarkets and food service clients.

  • Optimize transportation routes and delivery schedules.

  • Monitor on-time delivery performance and freight costs.

  • Ensure compliance with food transport regulations.

6. Compliance and Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as HACCP and GMP.

  • Coordinate with QA for traceability and recall procedures.

  • Maintain documentation for regulatory audits.

7. Financial and Performance Management

  • Manage supply chain budget and  cost control measures.

  • Analyze supply chain data to improve efficiency.

  • Prepare monthly performance reports for Senior Management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Master’s Degree an advantage)

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain or operations, preferably in food manufacturing

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of cold chain management and perishable inventory handling.

  • Experience with ERP Systems and Inventory Management Software.

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety regulations.
