Engineering Technician
JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems within the plant. The role ensures reliable operation of production and utility equipment including motors, pumps, conveyors, refrigeration systems, and power distribution. The technician supports preventive maintenance programs, welding and fabrication works, refrigeration and HVAC operations, and utility systems while complying with GMP, safety, and engineering standards to sustain plant efficiency, safety, and productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on pumps, gear motors, bearings, conveyors, blowers, compressors, valves, and related equipment
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, motor controls, contactors, relays, timers, sensors, switches, breakers, and building wiring
Conduct alignment, lubrication, replacement, and adjustment of mechanical components to ensure optimal equipment performance
Utilities, Refrigeration & HVAC Systems
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot utility systems such as boilers, steam generation systems, air compressors, process water systems, water supply systems, and wastewater treatment facilities
Maintain and service refrigeration and cooling systems including cold storage units, refrigerated containers, chillers, AHUs, and centralized air-conditioning systems
Monitor system parameters and ensure proper operation in accordance with SOPs and safety standards
Welding & Fabrication
Perform welding and fabrication works for equipment repair, modification, and installation
Apply appropriate welding processes such as SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and basic oxy-acetylene cutting, as required
Ensure welding activities comply with safety regulations and quality standards
Power & Control Systems
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot generator sets (gensets) and associated electrical systems
Conduct maintenance and project works related to electrical control systems in coordination with the Engineering Supervisor and approved maintenance schedules
Assist in electrical installations, modifications, and improvement projects
Preventive Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with GMP, safety policies, and maintenance plans
Support 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility
Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a 4-year technical or vocational course in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering Technology
Diploma or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance is an advantage
Basic knowledge of GMP, industrial safety standards, refrigeration systems, and maintenance documentation
Experience in a food manufacturing or industrial plant is an advantage
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of refrigeration, utilities, welding, and control systems
Fast learner with a high sense of urgency and attention to detail
Results-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
