Job Description

  • The Agency Engagement Manager is responsible for driving high levels of engagement among Sun Life advisors through strategic campaigns, events, and innovative initiatives. This role involves collaborating closely with the Agency Distribution team to launch and manage effective campaigns that motivate, support, and recognize the performance and commitment of our financial advisors. The incumbent will also be tasked with designing and executing engaging agency events to foster community and ensure alignment with business objectives.

 

Responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities:

Advisor Engagement Campaigns:

  • Design, implement, and monitor advisor engagement programs and campaigns to maximize participation and performance.
  • Work closely with the Head of Agency Distribution Support and Agency Management Team to ensure campaigns are aligned with overall business goals (Macaulay Club, MDRT, Medallion, Activity Ratio) and strategies.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of campaigns, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Agency Events Management:
    • Plan, organize, and execute agency events (both virtual and in-person) that encourage advisor participation, motivation, and team building.
    • Develop creative formats for events that resonate with advisors and create memorable experiences.
    • Ensure events are aligned with the overall brand messaging and business objectives.
  • Advisor Communication & Recognition:
    • Develop and distribute engaging communications to advisors, keeping them informed of key initiatives, campaigns, and rewards programs.
    • Implement recognition programs that highlight top performers and celebrate advisor achievements.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Distribution Analytics, IT, Operations, Finance ,etc) to ensure campaigns and events are well-executed and supported across various channels.
    • Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure alignment on engagement strategies.
  • Advisor Support:
    • Act as a point of contact for advisors, ensuring that they have the resources and support necessary to thrive in the business.
    • Continuously seek feedback from advisors to understand their needs and improve engagement strategies.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify new and innovative ways to engage advisors, using both digital and traditional channels.
    • Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices in advisor engagement and event management.

1. Strong Communication Skills

  • Verbal & Written: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, updates, and strategies to various stakeholders, including advisors, internal teams, and leadership.
  • Presentation Skills: Comfortable presenting to large groups, whether in-person at events or virtually, to inspire and engage advisors.

2. Event Planning & Management

  • Experience in organizing both virtual and in-person events, from small gatherings to large-scale conferences.
  • Ability to manage logistics, budgets, and timelines while ensuring smooth execution.
  • Creativity in designing unique and impactful events that resonate with the audience and align with business objectives.

3. Project Management Expertise

  • Ability to oversee multiple campaigns and initiatives simultaneously, from inception to completion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure all components of a campaign or event are executed flawlessly.
  • Proficiency in project management tools is a bonus

4. Analytical & Strategic Thinking

  • Ability to analyze data and measure the effectiveness of campaigns, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Experience using insights to adjust strategies and improve engagement tactics.
  • Ability to set clear KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for advisor engagement and measure the success of campaigns and events.

5. Relationship-Building Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and foster meaningful relationships with advisors, senior leadership, and other departments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, especially Marketing, and Operations, Finance, etc to ensure the success of campaigns and events.
  • Demonstrated success in managing stakeholders at all levels.

6. Creative Problem-Solving

  • Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative strategies for advisor engagement.
  • Capable of coming up with fresh, creative ideas for campaigns, incentives, and events that will drive advisor participation and enthusiasm.

7. Digital Literacy & Familiarity with CRM Systems

  • Proficiency in digital tools and platforms to engage advisors—whether it's through email, webinars, social media, or digital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) to track advisor engagement and manage campaigns efficiently.
  • Understanding of digital marketing strategies, including social media engagement and email marketing.

8. Leadership & Influence

  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team, ensuring that advisors stay engaged, enthusiastic, and aligned with company goals.
  • Ability to lead by example, showing initiative, accountability, and a proactive approach in every project.

9. Knowledge of the Financial Services Industry

  • Familiarity with the life insurance or financial services sector, including understanding the role of financial advisors, their needs, and their motivations.
  • Understanding of the dynamics between Sun Life HO and advisors, as well as knowledge of products and services offered by Sun Life.

10. Adaptability & Flexibility

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing market conditions or business priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing evolving expectations.

 

Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the financial services or insurance industry.
    • Experience in campaign management, event planning, and advisor engagement.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Creative thinker with the ability to come up with engaging ideas for campaigns and events.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant tools; familiarity with CRM systems is a plus.
  • Personality Traits:
    • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
