Chong Hua Hospital is looking to hire a Cashier who is responsible for handling all cash transactions with clients; ensures posting and keeping records up to date. S/He approves and ensures accuracy and completeness of patient charges.

 

S/He maintains frontline operations of the unit by following established protocol, policies and procedures, and performs other duties as directed by his/ her immediate supervisor.

 

JOB DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES

 

These tasks are subject to change depending on the nature of service of the division/department or business direction.

  • Assists and backs up billing personnel in receiving cash, cheque and credit card payments, from HMO and other vendors.
  • Approves and submits clean claims to other units either electronically or by paper.
  • Ensures completeness of cash receipt forms (official receipts, provisional receipts.)
  • Determines and recommends approval on the required deposits for patients scheduled for room transfer, special procedures and operation.
  • Performs daily various collection actions including, but not limited to: contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Processes payments from vendors and endorses the total collection at the end of each shift to the Head Cashier.
  • Assists billing personnel and checks validity of all refund voucher disbursement.
  • Responsible for the distribution of change funds to each cashier.
  • Provides assistance in the conduct of spot audits.
  • Responsible for assuring the availability of all materials / supplies needed for his/her function on a weekly basis.
  • Reviews refunds and ensures that it is within hospital policy limit and attached documents are complete.
  • Reconciles the Cashier’s Cash Fund and monitors shortages, advances and liquidations made against the fund.
  • Prepares and submits all required reports / documents as assigned.
  • Relays any information or provides suggestions to his/her immediate superior regarding any issues / concerns / innovations in the practice of his/her function in order to continuously improve the quality of service in the unit.
  • Builds, maintains and elevates relationships with CHH internal and external stakeholders by consistently practicing effective customer service.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or requested by immediate superior or management from time to time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or any business-related course with accounting units.
  • At least one (1) year of related work experience, is an advantage, but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical billing & collection practices and other third party operating procedures and practices is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable in basic Microsoft Office application.
  • Must be well organized and detail–oriented.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both oral and written. Preferably, can communicate in Visayan and Tagalog language.
