Job Description:

We’re looking for a Senior Compliance Analyst (L4) to join our team at MBPS. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to the Market Conduct Compliance Insurance Examination Team. The role involves coordinating communications with external distribution partners, assisting with Insurance Examination setup, collecting review evidence, and drafting closing reports as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the Insurance Examiners shared Outlook mailbox.
  • Communicate directly with contracted firms and advisors about compliance policies and procedures as escalated during the contracting process.
  • Ensure adherence to follow-up timelines for evidence collection and closing of items, while diligently monitoring requests and escalating when needed.
  • Review compliance policies and procedures sent in by distributors for completeness.
  • Maintain a good understanding of procedures with compliance expertise.
  • Confirm receipt of compliance documents from advisors and log the date of receipt in the compliance tracking system.
  • Use AI to validate that all elements are present.
  • Adapt and understand that learning is ongoing as regulations change.
  • Manage escalations to the Insurance Examination team.
  • Prepare distributor pre-work for business practice reviews, including setting up compliance folders, researching historical conduct and complaints, ordering advisor client listings, and validating licensing using internal systems and external provincial regulator websites.
  • Adhere to compliance records management protocols.
  • Manage the collection of distributor action plans, outstanding policies, and post-review evidence as needed.
  • Assist the Manager and Insurance Examiners with updating existing documentation and templates when changes occur.
  • Participate in Market Conduct, Compliance projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a definite advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), ChatMFC, SharePoint sites, and validating license information on Provincial Regulatory websites.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities in a professional manner.
  • Conceptual understanding of corporate compliance methodology and program objectives.
  • Ability to accomplish objectives through influence, not direct authority.
  • Ability to manage a substantial number of requests while tracking and staying within follow-up guidelines.
  • Ability to work in an environment that is physically remote from the team.
  • Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home as needed (dependent on business needs and/or the current external environment/situation).
