    Horrible.
The good thingsGathering news and writing news.
The challengesThe reporters pay for their transportation since this company does not provide transportation. They will promise you reimbursement but that would not happen. Worse, writers are on the field while editors stay in the comfort of their houses. Then editors will shout and disrespect you even when you are doing your job.

It was a bittersweet experience for me working for Manila Times.
The good thingsSome editors are good mentors who would push you to your limits.
The challengesThere are a few editors who are terribly horrible mentors (like blind leading the blind) who doesn't respect day offs and who doesn't have sense of accountability when they have mistakes.

    A great career opportunity!
The good thingsThe office staffs were very nice, accommodating and friendly. If you know how to manage your time and work well, you can balance your life and work at the same time. They would always give you a hand whenever you need it.
The challengesThe challenges working for this company that would be, gathering of worthy news sources from your designated place in order for it to be published.

It's as stressful as you can imagine but it still is a great place to work for.
The good thingsGoing to work, which for me means all over the province.
The challengesThe strict deadlines because of it being a newspaper.

The good thingsWorking here will be good only if you have a good and conscientious editor guiding you. Otherwise, if you were part of the old editor's team and a new editor steps up, they won't bother respecting you, no matter how long you have been contributing to the publication.
The challengesBetter management, as well as better tracking of articles submitted. I wasn't paid for the last 2 months' worth of my columns here. Not that it's a huge amount, but the principle here is paying your content creators. Without content, there won't be anything to publish, now, would there?
