New building, new workmates, better environment
The good thingsFacilities - I had the chance to work in the original office where the company started and it was hot, stuffy and cramped. We had to endure that until construction of the company’s 4-storey building was completed. When we finally moved into the new offices in late-2017, it felt so relieved. The office atmosphere turned more positive and happy. Location (subjective) — I was told the company hires locally (Marikina area), which means less traffic for people like me. I save time not to mention money from a long commute. Top things I like: Free massages in your seat while you work by a thirt-party massage company Free lunch (everyday) Performance incentives Employee profit sharing (happens sometimes, not all the time) The ability to contribute to the promotion of the Filipino language (I always get a kick when I see my own work being used by people I know). This is actually the top perk for me.
The challengesThere used to be some negative vibes caused by other employees who have since left the company. Some had this sense of entitlement which is maybe because they felt like they deserved more because of their past contributions. Not sure how valid that is but now there's much less of that sentiment with the new workmates who have come on board.

    Good, but could be better
The good thingsThe owner is really on top of the operations, and he is a go-getter when it comes to securing projects for the company. The work is clearly output-oriented, and there is commensurate compensation for working way beyond one's assigned tasks. Government-mandated benefits are all covered, and the company gives its employees more, such as annual team-building, small parties, and occasional gatherings.
The challengesWhat was challenging for me was the workplace. It was a bit small and cramped, quite far from the city center (Marikina), and flooding in surrounding areas is quite common. I felt there wasn't much room for professional growth given that it's still small, and the translation tools have to be improved. Communication with clients also has to be fine-tuned.
