The on-boarding process is systematic and informative, helping new hires become familiar with internal procedures and systems in a timely manner.
    The challengesAs a Vessel Support Technician at OSM Thome, one of the primary challenges is involves troubleshooting issues remotely, where limited access to onboard equipment and reliance on crew feedback can make diagnosis more complex. Clear communication and detailed coordination are essential to effectively resolve technical concerns under these conditions.

    The good thingsI have truly enjoyed my time with the SAIL Internship Program. I especially appreciated the hands-on experience with company processes, which gave me valuable practical insights. I also enjoyed the hybrid set-up and the thoughtful benefits such as free lunch and merch kits. In addition, the scheduled activities prepared for us provided great opportunities to bond and connect with fellow interns, making the experience both enriching and enjoyable.

    The good thingsI'm loving the people-first vibe under OSMT right now, "it's all about people!" with a supportive management team that actually cares. Dig the available trainings, fun team engagements, and seminars that are truly value-adding for employees.
    The challengesChallenges could include more tailored onboarding for newcomers switching industries, like deeper maritime-specific process intros. When I joined, there was an ongoing program with an onboarding framework that got implemented, which was a great start! hoping for even more refinements going forward.

    The good thingsThe hybrid set up. We only report to office 5 days in a month.
    The challengesThe office is crowded. The office space is not enough to accommodate the many employees even if they have a hybrid set up. Company culture also must be improved. Corporate Politics is also evident when you are there.

    Good work-life balance and benefits, but low pay, limited growth, and outdated facilities.
    The good things- Hybrid work arrangement provides flexibility and work-life balance. - Free lunch provided daily. - Mobile and internet allowance. - Medical reimbursement and HMO coverage for up to 2 dependents. - Regular employee townhalls that promote communication and transparency. - Plenty of extra-curricular and social activities for those who enjoy engaging with colleagues outside of work.
    The challenges- Compensation is below the current market standard. - Business processes remain unaligned even years after the OSM–Thome merger, leading to confusion and inefficiency. - Career advancement opportunities are limited. - Some inconsistencies in employee management and treatment within certain departments. - Workstations are frequently rearranged; despite the onsite requirement, workspace availability can be insufficient at times. - Building facilities are dated and would benefit from upgrades. The office canteen also tends to be crowded and humid, and food quality could be improved.
