It was somewhat a great opportunity for me to experience working in a kind of bipolar environment
The good thingsIt's somewhat a good school to start with. The administrators and other staffs are accommodating at first. They also have a lot of interesting activities that somewhat contribute to the wellness of their faculty and their students. When it comes to teaching loads, first year teachers undergo mentoring program where they are guided by some seasoned teachers for a few months. You won't be having any problems with the instructional materials because some of it are provided by the school.
The challengesIn the middle of the school year, most things could get extremely stressful and frustrating because most of the work loads will be given to some teachers without any further instructions. It is like working blind. Even if you attempt to ask other teachers in the area about tasks, it would be quite difficult when you don't know that such tasks exist. Some teachers can be quite tactless and unprofessional at some point of the school year. Aside from that, it is quite challenging in all angles to get the attention of some students despite of a 40 minute time slot. Some parents can also be EXTREMELY challenging as well. Also, it is always traffic (It is an added stress) at Katipunan. I will not recommend this school for those who are beyond Loyola heights

    A wonderful working environment.
The good thingsThe department where I worked with is headed by a very beautifully minded and well hearted individual and each and every faculty member under her wing is well appreciated by their efforts and contributions in the for the developement of the department.
The challengesOf course, teaching hard headed students is always a challenge! But as a teacher, one must always find ways to make learning more easy for those who find it really difficult. Due to k12, the enrolees for the upcoming semester is very low which pushed the part-time faculty to find work else where.

    Started good but...
The good thingsMany great co-workers. Occasional chances for self directed learning via seminars and conferences.
The challengesSeverely Understaffed. Favoritism. Low increases even with high performance evaluations. Heavily dependent on the 'wants' of the boss. Schedule heavily dictated by the whims of the administrators. Limited chances to schedule own career or educational improvement (post graduate, seminars and conferences), heavily dependent on the 'wants' of the boss. Institutional goals not necessarily what happens. Slashes budgets but many 'improvements' are more aesthetic instead of practical.

    Miriam College Job Street Employment
The good thingsThey aim to encourage employees to dream, have their career paths, and pursue these paths. They may not be one of the most high-paying eductaional institution there is but they strive to compensate through non-monetary incentives, such as giving professional leave (2 weeks), bereavement leaves (1 week) and force majure (3 days). They are big on empowering their employees.
The challengesThe challenge in working for an educational institution like Miriam College is that you have to know how to multitalk, know how to operate systems and IT-related programs (such as Globa Capture, RIBS and HRIS), and be a good team player. Tasks come unexpectedly, on top of one's regular tasks so if you are not a go-getter, you will be overwhelmed.

    Professional is here.
The good thingsMiriam College hires the best people, consequently you will work with the best people who will give you memorable and lasting working experience. They professionally handle situations with employees. They try to make sure that everything is fair and just. Best of all, there's a great opportunity for professional development. They offer quality seminars and training for FREE!
The challengesUsually work more than 40 hours per week and you don't get paid overtime so this can actually be stressful to someone earning just enough. They should have more perks and benefits for their very hardworking employees.

The good thingsHumane schedule and work load. Creative approaches (projects, activities, presentations) can be unleashed with the approval of the superviso and manager. Balanced work pressure with personal life. It's easy to be a teacher.
The challengesNasty traffic snarls, floods, crazy highway drivers; training the teens on time management...
