Alright for part time, but never full time. The good thingsThe staff members were polite and professional, and customers were always given priority. They genuinely valued the teachers, both part time and full time.
The challengesBerlitz boasts a history of over a century. While it carries weight for some, it cannot be denied that Berlitz has, in the recent decades, become more of an anachronism. There were literal piles of paper everywhere, and staff members were elbow to elbow in their cramped offices. Their business practices were a far cry from that of more recent companies.
Berlitz admin is overworked and understaffed. Many have resigned. There are many able and intelligent members who, quite frankly, would easily occupy managerial positions in more modern companies, but talent can only go so far when you're busy putting out fires with your hands tied behind your back.
I first joined under the impression that getting classes wouldn't be a problem. It didn't take long for me to realize that the opposite was true. Classes, while available, aren't abundant enough to fill up your weekly schedule. While you have the option of accepting or turning down classes, you cannot be choosy. It soon came to my understanding that teachers in Berlitz normally had at least one other job. This was just a supplement. If you will be conducting a class off-site, expect to do plenty of legwork as well.
If you must work here as a teacher, never do so on a full-time basis. You will be expected to do plenty of administrative work in their claustrophobic offices.
