A good place to build a careerThe good thingsHere's some of the good things in the firm:
- Work environment is very positive; people are very friendly
- A lot of opportunities for growth (secondments, promotions, internal transfers)
- A lot of initiatives from the management to engage with the employees
- Benefits are very competitive compared to competitors
- There's the firm's initiative called Quality Working Hours that aims to improve work/life balance by allowing staff to maximize working times in the morning and allow employees to spend their afternoons/evenings with loved ones.
The challengesHere are some rooms for improvement:
- Work/life balance can still be improved. While the firm's initiative is a good thing, challenges encountered include the amount of workload being handled by a staff, team is undermanned, and some processes that are very traditional and slow become the bottleneck.
- Workload amount can be too much especially when the group is undermanned and the managers fail to see that. In relation to quality working hours, the staff end up bringing home at work or doing weekends just to fully deliver the need.
- Pay can still be increased considering the quality of work being delivered.
- Managers should be taught how to appreciate the staff no matter how small the work that was delivered. Timely feedback and appreciation greatly boosts the confidence of an individual specially when someone has just started to build his/her career.
