The good thingsThe job involves gathering of data from chemical journals, and encoding them based on client-specific guidelines and tools. You'll be reading countless journals with subjects focusing mostly on organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacology. If you love hardcore chem, then you'll get accustomed to it like I did.
The challengesAs someone with only a BS degree, it takes time to understand the articles along with the excerption guidelines. The work is production based, so one should also meet tight deadlines while trying to maintain >98% quality. Despite of the high requirements, it was surprising that the company offers a non-competitive salary. The position offered was only good as it sounds.

The good thingsShift is flexi-time and a possible home-based assignment after excellent performance evaluation. Compensation is incentive-based that lets you be in control of how much you'll earn for a specific period.
The challengesWork-load is out of this world. Would require to accomplish tasks beyond your capacity. Employees are prone to exhaustion and burn-out, which is why attrition rate is so high. Compensation is unstable and unpredictable as it is dependent on how much work you'll receive on a given time, which is not fixed. No clear career growth. Employees think that they are dispensable and can be replaced.

The good thingsEmployer encourages home working arrangement which proved to be convenient for the employee, and resulted in high production outcomes for the employer. Employer also provides adequate health benefits and loan opportunities.
The challengesEmployer should have chosen good management people who have the ability to communicate well with employees. Some management people were not skilled enough to lead employees to ensure high productivity.
