Not as Progressive as It is Trying to BeThe good thingsThe people earnestly want to make the company grow and succeed. Compared to people in most Filipino companies, the employees are generally nice. Some departments are progressive and continue to push for necessary change despite some setbacks caused by the pandemic. We also had virtual events and management found a way to continue giving its employees bonuses despite the pandemic.
The challengesThe company is managed by two big telco entities with personalities and cultures as different as day and night are. Unfortunately, the more traditional, financially-conscious, and somewhat micromanaging entity has more say in the decisions. This prevents the company from becoming more progressive and digitally-driven internally. Some of the more senior managers have become too hands-on and this somewhat prevents people like me from exercising my creative and innovative freedom.
The company also does not practice work-life balance. Meetings go late into the evening and during weekends. Since the community quarantine went into effect, work has encroached on our personal lives.
