It is a privilege to be one of the public servants of our country.
The good thingsMost likely to enjoy in this kind of job is being capable of communicating on public relations specifically when having a meeting with the most prominent politicians of the town or the country. You may also enjoy the trainings and seminars that the Head Officials are conducting to improve legislative tasks and responsibilities for the improvement of work on the community or barangay.
The challengesThere are, for some reasons, that are not simply understandable sometimes on the work environment like in favor of something or what do you call it, maybe dirty politics also. That's the most unfavorable sometimes. But this is my job and I love doing whatever task it may be.

average to high salary for a JO
The good thingsDILG is a good agency to work with lots of challenges and fun. They offer good compensation even for JO's like me. Unfortunately for JO's, they are not receiving 13th and 14th month pay compare to some private companies. Though sometimes they can receive some bonus in December, it's a contribution from regular employees who would like to share some of their blessings received but it's not that much, but still ok though.
The challengesMost of the times here are relax, the challenges you should expect in working here is working to work and get along with other old employees. And expect to be involved on other tasks and assignments not related to your job.

The good thingsIt boosted my self-esteem. It gave me an idea of what the real world really look like. It gave me an opportunity to work with different types of people.
The challengesYou need to get along with different types of people. Not all people will like what you do but surely, as long as you do your work well, everything will be fine.

    Horrible workplace
The good thingsI receive higher salary compared to other government agencies with lowest level/rank-and-file employees. My schedule is fixed. I only work from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday only. When I render overtime, I can spend days off on any week day. VLs and SLs are accumulated throughout your career so nothing is forfeited if you don't use the remaining balance.
The challengesThe bureaucracy is horrible, and every transaction takes a long time to finish! People from higher ranks always delegate tasks to the people in the lowest ranks. So employees are always loaded and exhausted. Policies are uber complicated! That is why there is not much improvement here. People are too conscious about the policies. Grrr!!! I don't understand the rules and policies here.
