    I learned a lot
The good thingsThere is a harmonious relationship with the employees. I could easily relate to my coworkers and my supervisor is kind but also makes sure that I learn and that I accomplish all the tasks given to me. This experience really enhanced my working etiquette.

    Satisfying
The good thingsI enjoy the sincere appreciation I receive from not only my boss, but also the people I work with. A heartfelt “thanks” goes a long way to improving my attitude and productivity. I like that the company I work for is not too paternalistic. Schedule adjustments are never a big deal. In terms of the nuts and bolts of my job, it involves spreadsheets and numbers and a lot of problem solving. I’ve always enjoyed puzzles and am always discovering new Excel features, which only serve to remind me how little I really know about its full capabilities. My company also pays for outside training, without many stipulations. So, I can enhance my skills as I see fit and have time. I guess they trust that employees generally want to succeed and if they feel they need some training, they probably do.

The good thingsI very much enjoy my career in HR. It is rewarding to be able to engage with employees and help them through situations at work. I like being a go-to person and someone who can help make employees' lives easier. I originally got interested in a career in HR because I believe it is important to bring the human element to the workplace. It is a powerful thing for employees to be able to have a third party who is not their immediate peer or manager with whom to work through more sensitive situations. It makes them feel safe and understood and taken care of. The most challenging part of HR is dealing with employee terminations (firing people). These can be very difficult discussions with a lot of emotion, and there is a lot of work that goes into preparing for these.
