Basic Education FacultyThe good thingsStrong support system from colleagues, level teammates, and subject team mates. Proby teachers are well handled not only by Subject Team Leader, but as well as the Office of Professional Development and Instructional Coaching (OPDIC). Hence, this is a good training ground not only for newly graduates but for teachers who have been in the teaching career for years. For instance, in my situation, I used to teach for five years in my previous school, but when I moved here in Assumption, I realize I could grow more as an educator. The observation / visit may be intensive (an average of 8-12 observation per school year) but you will be guided how to navigate through the demands of the institution.
The challengesOne needs to manage his / her time properly as the institution put premium on the academic rigors. Thus, despite cancellation / interuptions, one must be conscious of time and calendar well because there are non-negotiable in terms of your duties as teacher. Else, you will receive a memo for negligence of duty.
Also, the observation of both Subject Team Leader and Instructional Coach may cause anxiety as they will give feedback thoroughly and immediately. Hence teaching in Assumption not only requires dedication, but also mental preparations, and ability to foresee future disruptions.
