Good place to start but not a good place to stayPros They will sponsor the seminars and help teacher development Community appears very welcoming Many activities to interact with students They have the first person approach when handling conflict Their teaching techniques are unique but can be effective and student centered Cons Salary is lower compared to other schools. There are many events and it looks good now but not when everyone is rushing to finish acads The rushing makes the lessons have poor quality. The students don’t actually learn everything that’s needed. They do not handle mental health concerns well. They try but you can tell they don’t have experience dealing with this. They handle it as if the person does not have mental health problems. Learning how to teach here is good. It’s a great experience. They will help you improve your skills. But they are not good at retaining their staff. This place will tire you out.

The school is aggressive in innovating teacher formation, professional development, and adapting to student (and mostly) parent demands.
The good thingsThe community is prayerful and wishes the best for its members. The school is serious about the students and faculty character formation. Teacher formation is non-negotiable; the school makes sure that the teachers are ready to actually “teach”. The respectice teams build strong support system.
The challengesThe ATeam approves long vacation to students in the middle of the school year which then would require the teacher to make unecesary papers such as individual and special schedules for the student. The ATeam also is aggressive on innovating various aspects with regards to the learning process however is the innovations implemented are not evaluated well. The unecessary amounts of observations to better a teacher’s lesson holistic implementation causes anxiety for it goes along with the actual Subject Area Coordinator/Team Leader’s. The academic rigor is not given much premium thus sacrificing the student’s acquisition of skills; there are times that subject content is skipped. The student activities causes too much interruption to actual classes; the teacher adapts by lessening or simplifying content for the student to “pass” or “learn”.

The good thingsStrong support system from colleagues, level teammates, and subject team mates. Proby teachers are well handled not only by Subject Team Leader, but as well as the Office of Professional Development and Instructional Coaching (OPDIC). Hence, this is a good training ground not only for newly graduates but for teachers who have been in the teaching career for years. For instance, in my situation, I used to teach for five years in my previous school, but when I moved here in Assumption, I realize I could grow more as an educator. The observation / visit may be intensive (an average of 8-12 observation per school year) but you will be guided how to navigate through the demands of the institution.
The challengesOne needs to manage his / her time properly as the institution put premium on the academic rigors. Thus, despite cancellation / interuptions, one must be conscious of time and calendar well because there are non-negotiable in terms of your duties as teacher. Else, you will receive a memo for negligence of duty. Also, the observation of both Subject Team Leader and Instructional Coach may cause anxiety as they will give feedback thoroughly and immediately. Hence teaching in Assumption not only requires dedication, but also mental preparations, and ability to foresee future disruptions.

    A good and reputable college
The good thingsA good and prayerful community. A good training ground for newly graduates. Benefits are somehow at par with other schools. If you have a daughter, it will be good for you to be employed here since you will have an education benefit for your daughter. The nuns wills be your prayer warriors. The school is safe and secure since it's inside a Class A Village.
The challengesSudden change of schedules. Forced Leaves during school breaks. (There are times that you'll be asked to use your Vacation Leaves because of school breaks.) Some supervisors / unit heads are \"power tripper\" and very sensitive. Some parents of students are demanding and have a feeling of \"entitlement\".
