Senior Database Developer

About the role

RCC Colab Solutions Inc is seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to join our growing team in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to take a leadership role in designing, developing and maintaining our database systems and infrastructure. As a Senior Database Developer, you will be instrumental in driving the technical excellence of our data management capabilities and play a crucial role in supporting our business objectives through robust, scalable and secure database solutions.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and implement complex database architectures and solutions that meet organizational requirements and industry best practices

• Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query optimization, and system tuning

• Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, schema designs and technical specifications

• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, performance bottlenecks and system failures in a timely manner

• Collaborate with software developers, systems architects and business analysts to translate requirements into effective database solutions

• Implement and maintain database security protocols, backup and disaster recovery procedures

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior database developers and support team members

• Stay current with emerging database technologies, trends and best practices within the industry

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes

• Support database migration projects and system upgrades as required

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of professional experience as a database developer or in a similar database-focused role

• Strong expertise in relational database management systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

• Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures and optimization techniques

• Demonstrated experience with database design methodologies and data modelling

• Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g. AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL) is highly desirable

• Knowledge of database security, encryption and compliance standards

• Proven ability to analyze complex problems and develop efficient, scalable solutions

• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and version control systems

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Experience mentoring and leading junior team members

• Relevant database certifications are preferred but not essential
