Casual Passenger Transport Driver (Vanbassador)

Coast Rover
Posted 7d ago

Professional Driver. Local Ambassador. Vanbassador.

Coast Rover is locally owned and built for the Cairns Northern Beaches, connecting locals and visitors with destinations from Cairns to Port Douglas. We're looking for friendly, reliable people who take pride in safe driving, genuine hospitality and their local community.

As a Vanbassador, you'll drive our modern Ford Transit minibuses and other passenger vehicles where required, making every journey welcoming, safe and professional.

What you'll do

• Safely transport passengers and complete vehicle and safety checks.

• Welcome passengers and help with boarding, luggage, shopping, prams and mobility needs.

• Share useful local knowledge while respecting passengers who prefer a quiet journey.

• Use booking and navigation technology and keep your vehicle clean and presentable.

• Support local events and build positive connections with passengers and community partners.

• Follow road rules, fatigue-management requirements and company procedures, and report safety issues promptly.

What you'll bring

• A friendly, professional manner, reliability and sound judgement.

• Safe driving habits and confidence using technology independently.

• Local knowledge, or a genuine interest in learning the region.

• A current Queensland Driver Licence appropriate for the vehicle being operated.

• Australian working rights and Queensland Driver Authorisation appropriate to the role, or the ability to obtain it before commencing driving employment.

• Ability to meet regulatory requirements and safely perform the active duties of passenger transport, including assisting passengers and loading luggage.

Hospitality, tourism, retail, customer service or professional driving experience is highly regarded. Attitude and genuine care for people are equally important.

If you don't yet hold Driver Authorisation, we'll provide information about the process. Driving employment cannot commence until all required authorisations are in place.

What we offer

• Casual employment under the Passenger Vehicle Transportation Award 2020, with the role expected to be classified at Grade 3.

• $36.94 per hour ordinary casual base rate, including casual loading, plus superannuation, applicable penalty rates and tips.

• Full induction, on-the-job training and supplied uniforms.

• Shifts based on operational demand and your availability, with opportunities for additional shifts and responsibilities as Coast Rover grows.

• For the right person, there may be opportunities for some roles to transition to part-time or full-time employment.

You'll help locals and visitors feel connected to the region, not simply transported through it. If you take pride in helping people and delivering exceptional service, we'd love to hear from you.
