Tube Laser Operator

About the role

We’re looking for a reliable, safety-focused Tube Laser Operator to join our fabrication team in Cowra. You’ll run our tube laser cutting machine from start to finish: loading material, setting up jobs, operating the machine safely, and getting finished parts packed and ready for dispatch. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in accurate work and keeping production moving.

Hours

Monday to Friday, generally 7:30am to 4:00pm, including a paid 15-minute break and a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Regular overtime is available for those who want extra hours. We’re flexible, and exact hours and overtime can be worked out with the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload steel tube and profile onto and off the tube laser, using correct manual handling techniques and lifting equipment.

• Set up the machine for each job, including loading programs, selecting and adjusting tooling, and checking material specifications against job paperwork.

• Operate the tube laser safely and efficiently, monitoring cut quality and making adjustments as needed.

• Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, and report any defects or issues.

• Operate a forklift to move raw materials, finished goods and packed orders around the workshop and yard.

• Pack and label finished materials so they’re secure and ready for transport.

• Carry out routine machine checks, basic maintenance and cleaning.

• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and keep your work area clean and organised.

About you

• Experience operating a tube laser or other CNC cutting equipment (preferred, but training can be provided for the right person).

• Current forklift licence (LF).

• Ability to read job sheets and basic engineering drawings.

• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.

• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to work overtime when required.
