Gluer Operator
About Us
Excel Packaging is a family-owned South Australian manufacturer specialising in high-quality corrugated cardboard packaging. Since 2006, we’ve grown into a trusted supplier to hundreds of customers across SA and Australia, investing heavily in modern machinery, systems, and people.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Gluer Operator to run our brand new specialty folder gluer, arriving at our Pooraka facility at the end of October. The machine includes an integrated taping line for double-sided tape and rip strips, producing ecom boxes and other glued and taped cartons to job specifications. This role is primarily focused on the folder gluer, with the flexibility to run or offside other converting equipment when production needs require it.
You’ll be joining an experienced production team and will be involved in the machine’s setup and commissioning, so you’ll learn it from the ground up. This is a full-time, day-shift role (Monday to Friday) with optional overtime.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and adjust the specialty folder gluer and taping line to produce cartons and ecom boxes to job specifications and artwork
Interpret dielines, job tickets, and production drawings accurately
Maintain glue, taping, and fold quality, and keep squareness and consistency across runs
Monitor production runs and minimise waste
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on the folder gluer
Offside or run other converting equipment as required
Operate a forklift to move materials and finished goods where required
Identify and report mechanical or quality issues promptly
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience operating a folder gluer, ideally in a corrugated or folding carton environment
Ability to read and interpret dielines, job tickets, and specifications
Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Flexibility and willingness to run or offside other machinery when needed
A team-first attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining quality
Forklift license (preferred but not essential)
What We Offer
$65,000 - $80,000 + super, depending on experience
Brand new equipment - you’ll be involved in the setup of a machine that’s just landed
Stable, long-term role with a growing, family-owned manufacturer
Supportive workplace culture
Opportunity to grow as the business expands capacity
How to Apply
If you’re an experienced gluer operator looking for a stable, well-equipped workplace, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today with your resume and a short cover letter.
One thing to be aware of: the “involved in setup and commissioning” line promises something, so make sure it fits with how the installation technician will be working on site. If you’d rather not commit, “the chance to learn a new machine from day one” is a safer alternative.
