NBN / Field Service Technician

About the role

SK CIVILWORKS PTY LTD is seeking a skilled NBN / Field Service Technician to join our telecommunications team. This is a Full time/Part time based in Hobart, TAS 7000. As an NBN / Field Service Technician, you will play a critical role in the deployment, installation, and maintenance of National Broadband Network (NBN) infrastructure and telecommunications services. Your work will be essential in ensuring quality broadband connectivity for customers across the region, directly contributing to our mission of delivering reliable network services to communities.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and activate NBN equipment and services at customer premises

• Perform field testing and diagnostics on telecommunications infrastructure to identify and resolve service issues

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of NBN network equipment and cabling

• Troubleshoot connectivity problems and provide technical support to resolve service faults

• Complete accurate documentation and technical reports on all work performed in the field

• Adhere to all health and safety protocols and industry regulatory requirements whilst working on customer sites

• Liaise with customers to explain technical issues and provide guidance on equipment usage

• Travel to multiple service locations across the Hobart region to complete assigned work orders

• Work collaboratively with other technicians and support teams to meet service delivery targets

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, telecommunications technician, or similar role within the ICT or telecommunications sector

• Knowledge of NBN infrastructure, fibre optic cabling, and copper network systems

• Competency with network diagnostic tools and testing equipment

• Understanding of telecommunications standards, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers

• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the Tasmania

• Physical fitness to perform manual labour, including working at heights where required

• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications (such as telecommunications diplomas or NBN training) are highly desirable

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
