Business Process Engineer
Job description:
A Business Process Engineer (BPE) designs, analyzes, and optimizes organizational workflows to improve efficiency, quality, cost control, and scalability. The role is data-driven and cross-functional, bridging operations, finance, IT, and leadership.
Position Summary
The Business Process Engineer is responsible for:
Mapping current (“as-is”) processes
Identifying inefficiencies and risk points
Designing improved (“to-be”) processes
Driving implementation and change adoption
Monitoring performance through KPIs
The role focuses on measurable improvement in productivity, cost, cycle time, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct workflow analysis across departments
Develop process maps using BPMN, SIPOC, or value stream mapping
Identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and control gaps
Quantify current-state performance (baseline metrics)
Propose redesigned workflows aligned with business strategy
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
Standardize SOPs and documentation
Recommend automation where feasible
Define KPIs and dashboards
Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
Analyze operational and financial data to support decisions
Establish process control mechanisms
Lead cross-functional improvement projects
Coordinate with IT for system enhancements
Train teams on new procedures
Monitor post-implementation results
Ensure processes meet regulatory and audit requirements
Design internal controls to reduce operational risk
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field
1-2 years in process improvement, operations, or consulting
Experience in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Zoho, etc.)
Proven track record of measurable operational improvement
Process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro)
Data analysis (Excel advanced, Power BI/Tableau preferred)
Basic knowledge of automation/RPA is advantageous
Analytical and structured thinking
Strong documentation discipline.
High accountability and follow-through
