US Senior Tax Associate (US Financial Advisory, WFH)
Salary: P80,000 - P100,000 (Monthly Package)
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday (4:00 AM to 1:00 PM PHT)
 
What are we looking for?
 
The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for preparing and performing initial reviews of U.S. federal and multistate income tax returns for corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
 
This position reviews tax workpapers and financial statements, identifies and corrects preparation errors, resolves diagnostics, and ensures returns are complete and technically accurate before manager review.
 
They will communicate professionally with clients regarding tax information, missing documents, tax readiness, and return preparation matters.
 
The position also provides timely status updates to Leads and Supervisors, clearly communicates outstanding issues, and escalates complex technical matters when appropriate.
 
Skills Required:
 
Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of recent U.S. federal income-tax preparation experience.
  • Substantial experience preparing Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1040.
  • Experience preparing federal and multistate income-tax returns.
  • QuickBooks experience: transactional accounting with QuickBooks experience, a minimum of 2 years of recent experience working within QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks desktop.
  • Bookkeeping experience: proficient in QuickBooks, ability to navigate various workflows including A/R, A/P, payroll, sales tax, journal entries, financial reporting, 3rd party apps integration, banking and credit card reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of US tax laws, regulations and deadlines.

  • Technology skills: proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software.
  • Self-Discipline & problem-solving skills: Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills required to resolve tax and accounting matters.
  • Internet connection requirements: Must have internet connection.
 
QUALIFICATION PREFERRED:
  • CPA license.
  • Prior senior-level experience with a U.S. public-accounting or tax firm.
  • Some knowledge of accounting and tax in cannabis industry.
  • Experience performing an initial review of tax returns prepared by other staff.
  • Experience with Lacerte/TaxDome or comparable professional tax-preparation software.
  • Bookkeeping certification.
  • Capacity and commitment to work 40 hours a week during traditional daytime business hours supporting clients.
  • Credentials/Certifications: QuickBooks Online Pro Certification or QuickBooks Online Advanced Certifications are preferred.
 
What will you do?
 
WORKPAPERS:
  • Obtain and review client tax information, prior-year returns, financial statements, trial balances, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and perform initial reviews of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations.
  • Identify missing information, unusual changes, and unsupported balances, and clearly communicate outstanding items.
ADMINISTRATION:
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects such as preparing tax extensions, estimates, vouchers, and other tax-related filings as assigned.
  • Communicate return status, delays, missing information, and technical concerns to Leads and Supervisors.
  • Generate and review missing information reports and coordinate document requests with the appropriate client-facing team member.
  • Back up for support staff as needed
 
ACCOUNTING AND TAX WORKPAPER KNOWLEDGE:
  • Review Annual Books before tax preparation to ensure quality of the following documentation
    • Checking tax basis of financials- cash or Accrual
    • Matching balance sheet to prior year tax return
    • Reverse entries for AP, AR, cash, credit cards and loans
    • Matching payroll wages and payroll tax to payroll tab
    • Ensure bank and credit card accounts have been properly reconciled each month.
    • Ensure auto loan accounts have been properly reconciled or adjusted properly.
    • Analyze balance sheet comparisons and identify any document differences.
    • Verify items under $1K are not capitalized to fixed assets.
    • Present revenue variances to Managing Partner for solution.
    • Present variances in tax payable to Managing Partner for solution.
    • Complete tax workpaper allocations on P & L.
    • Customer service and communication with client as needed.
    • Refresh and ensure accuracy of the following workpapers:
      • A03 Payroll tab
      • U01 Revenue Tab
      • C01 Cash Tab
      • K01 Tab (Credit Card, Auto Loans and Tax Payable)
