Head of Accounting (ASAP STARTER)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Accounting to lead and oversee the organization's accounting operations. The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment, and possesses extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage and develop the accounting team while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Payroll accounting.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and key financial metrics.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional development.

  • Establish departmental goals, performance standards, and workflow processes.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and training as needed.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Analyze variances and provide recommendations to management.

  • Support strategic financial planning and decision-making initiatives.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, tax requirements, and healthcare industry standards.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies.

  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies during audits and reviews.

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and improve accounting systems, procedures, and reporting processes.

  • Recommend and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.

  • Support digital transformation and system enhancements related to accounting functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA license preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in Accounting or Finance.

  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or related industry is highly preferred.

  • Proven experience managing and leading accounting staff.

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and internal controls.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
