Senior Manual QA Analyst API SQL

About the role

NYGC Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manual QA Analyst API SQL to join our Quality Assurance team in a full-time capacity. Based in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, this role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of our API systems and database applications. As a Senior Manual QA Analyst, you will take on a leadership position within our testing operations, driving quality assurance initiatives and mentoring junior team members whilst maintaining the highest standards of software testing excellence.

What you'll be doing

1. Develop and execute comprehensive manual test plans and test cases for API endpoints and SQL database operations, ensuring thorough coverage of functional and non-functional requirements

2. Perform detailed API testing using industry-standard tools, validating request/response structures, error handling, performance and security protocols

3. Execute SQL queries and perform database validation testing to ensure data integrity, accuracy and consistency across multiple systems

4. Analyse test results, identify and document defects with detailed reproduction steps, expected versus actual behaviour, and severity classifications

5. Collaborate closely with developers, product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify ambiguities and provide quality feedback throughout the development lifecycle

6. Mentor and provide guidance to junior QA team members, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement

7. Develop and maintain test documentation, including test strategies, test data sets and quality assurance reports

8. Participate in requirement reviews and design sessions to identify potential quality risks and recommend testing approaches

9. Perform regression testing following software updates and patches to ensure stability and prevent quality degradation

10. Contribute to the refinement of QA processes and procedures, recommending best practices and process improvements

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in manual quality assurance testing, with proven expertise in API testing methodologies

2. Strong proficiency in SQL query writing and database testing, including the ability to validate data at the database level

3. Demonstrated experience testing REST APIs and understanding of API architecture, authentication protocols and data formats such as JSON and XML

4. Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing best practices, including test case design, test data management and defect lifecycle management

5. Proficiency with manual testing tools and API testing platforms such as Postman, Insomnia or similar technologies

6. Experience with bug tracking and test management systems such as Jira, TestRail or equivalent tools

7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle defects

8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

9. Proven leadership or mentoring capabilities, demonstrating the ability to guide and support junior team members

10. Understanding of performance testing concepts and experience identifying performance-related issues

11. Preferred: Experience with automation frameworks or scripting languages; familiarity with agile development methodologies; knowledge of security testing principles
