Sr Network Engineer (WFH)

SUMMARY

The Level 2 Network Engineer serves as a senior escalation point within the Network Operations team, supporting the day-to-day operations of a global, low-latency network infrastructure. This role is focused on operational continuity—ensuring the network remains stable, secure, and performing at optimal levels.


Working closely with the NOC Manager, the engineer will handle escalated incidents, manage infrastructure changes, and proactively maintain network health. This is a BAU-focused role, not project-based, requiring strong troubleshooting expertise and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to and resolve escalated incidents related to network and infrastructure performance.

  • Monitor and maintain the health, stability, and performance of global network environments.

  • Conduct routine diagnostics and health checks to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.

  • Perform controlled infrastructure changes (e.g., firewall rules, switch configurations, BGP updates) following change management processes.

  • Ensure consistent network performance through route validation, traffic shaping, and congestion management.

  • Maintain and enhance monitoring and logging systems to ensure full visibility of network components.

  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g., peering/transit providers) to troubleshoot routing issues and optimize bandwidth usage.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical incidents outside business hours.

  • Support and mentor NOC team members on complex troubleshooting scenarios.

  • Document incidents, changes, and operational procedures in line with governance standards.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience working in a live network environment (e.g., ISP, hosting, fintech, or enterprise environments).

  • Strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, and firewall troubleshooting in a 24/7 operational setting.

  • Solid understanding of network protocols including BGP and OSPF.

  • Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL) and network security fundamentals.

  • Familiarity with Linux systems (e.g., routing, iptables, tunneling).

  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools (e.g., LibreNMS, Zabbix, or similar).

  • Experience with change control and operational governance processes.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Amenable to work in any shift schedule (day/mid/night).


PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with Juniper Networks and Arista switching platforms.

  • Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux distributions such as CentOS.

  • Exposure to service provider-level networking and upstream peer management.


CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred)

  • JNCIA / JNCIS

  • CCNA / CCNP

  • Linux+ or equivalent certifications
