The Senior 0&M Engineer (SOE) is tasked to ensure all managed solar PV systems are fully operational, safe and producing at or above expectations. Furthermore, the SOE ensures and oversees all works on Solar PV systems meet or exceed the company's operational targets. The engineer represents the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) department in construction sites, ensuring adherence to plans, high installation quality and needs for the safe, efficient and consistent performance of the systems. He ensures that the workforce is properly trained, organized, and has access to tools and parts they need to execute assigned tasks. Additionally, the SSE acts as the third level of support, managing both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshooting, Rectification and special client requests
Reviews and handles all assigned sites' issues
Adheres with the maintenance schedules determined by the team
Monitors preventive maintenance activity compliance
Inspects facilities to determine potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance.
Escalates problems to O&M Manager that require Level 4 support
Analyze deviations from the expected values, create and execute action plans for rectifications to bring projects to the expected output
All sites under O&M need to be checked for:
Energy production
Panel Efficiency
Inverter Efficiency
Irradiance
Weather
Availability
Performance Ratio
Other data as needed
Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations
Adjusting of Solar PV System parameters, functionality, and safety
Troubleshoots Solar PV Equipment (i.e. MDPs, inverters, power optimizers, sensors,
Communications, etc.)
Goes on-site for rectifications and documentations
Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details, and assign work to qualified team members if needed
Helps with the development of maintenance procedures
Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment
Actively participate in projects (e.g. remodeling or renovation).
Stakeholder Management
Acts as the first and third level of support for customers, understanding issues that are reported through different channels such as escalations from the second level of support, Messenger Apps, text/SMS, emails, calls, etc.
Escalating issues to 0&M Manager / PICasneeded, coordinating with appropriate channels for resolution of issues.
Communicates preventive maintenance schedule internally and externally.
Provides training on the use of the monitoring platform as requested by the clients.
Keeps track of the monitoring platform accounts given to the clients.
Keeps track of 0&M package inclusive dates and communicates the lapse thereof to the clients.
Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and issue
Coordinates with internal and external stakeholderst to resolve queries, system issues or other technical requests.
Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility.
Communicate directly with building occupants to resolve service requests.
Reporting
Ensures all reports and logs are documented as per company policy (e.g. CRM for Customer Support Issues and IRs)
Tagging and logging of incident reports (IR) in CRM or other Software as provided until resolution of issues
Monitors IR, ensuring timely resolution
Ensures that communication with clients are logged for ease of reference (e.g. E-mail or more cel come versus on calls, and are ploaded on R log.
Oversee and enforce good record-keeping practices (be it pen and paper or CMMS software like Limble).
Budgeting
Assists O&M Manager/PIC in preparation of weekly/ monthly fund requests
Keeps track of the assigned funds, makes sure the liquidations are complete, correct and submitted in a timely manner
Prepares cost projections for their tasks and manages the funds responsibly while ensuring to not overpay for materials or services.
Recommend budget items, contributing to the development of an annual maintenance budget.
Team Management
Provides input to O&M Manager/PIC for the scheduling of activities
Supervises assigned solar engineers and site personnel
Trains and builds knowledge of the team through trainings, guidance and supervision
Provides input for performance evaluations and gives feedback to team members
Provide support and advice during staff recruitment and ensure the proper onboarding and training process.
Communicate policies, procedures, and any updates to maintenance staff.
Check that every single job is executed on time, to the budget, and without compromising building users' safety.
Actively discuss staff-related challenges with senior management.
Others
Assist the O&M Manager/PIC in other works as needed
Build trust relations with partners and other site personnel
Assists with technical plans revision on AutoCad when needed
Verifies the accuracy of data such as built plans.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance.
Solar PV system design and components
Inverters (central/string) and MV/LV systems
SCADA and monitoring systems
Grid interconnection and protection systems
Experience with performance ratio analysis and fault diagnostics.
Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
Proficiency with MS Excel and reporting tools.
Preferred Skills
Experience with utility-scale solar power plants (10 MW+).
Familiarity with PVsyst or similar simulation tools.
Experience managing field teams or contractors.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Safety & Compliance
Strong understanding of electrical safety, LOTO procedures, and site HSE standards.
Ability to conduct site audits and risk assessments.
Work Conditions
Field-based with regular travel to project sites.
Ability to work in outdoor environments and climb structures if required.
